Gwaltney was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 377th Field Artillery Regiment, 17th Fires Brigade, Fort Lewis, Wash.

Gwaltney died November 29 south of Basra, Iraq, of injuries sustained from a non-combat related incident.




Sgt. Briand T. Williams

Hometown: Sparks, Georgia

April 12, 1984 - November 22, 2009

Williams was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 10th Field Artillery Regiment, 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Benning, Ga.

Williams died November 22 Numaniyah, Iraq, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit using small arms fire.




Spc. Jonathon Sylvestre

Hometown: Colorado Springs, Colorado

October 27, 1988 - November 2, 2009

Sylvestre was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 10th Field Artillery Regiment, 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Benning, Ga.

Sylvestre died November 2 in Kut, Iraq, of injuries sustained from a non-combat related incident.




Spc. Christopher Cooper

Hometown: Oceanside, California

October 18, 1981 - October 30, 2009

Cooper was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 28th Infantry, 172nd Infantry Brigade, Schweinfurt, Germany.

Cooper died October 30 in Babil province, Iraq, of injuries sustained from a non-combat related incident.




Pvt. Cody R. Patterson

Hometown: Cleburne, Texas

February 15, 1989 - October 17, 2009

Patterson was assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 13th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, Fort Bliss, Texas.

Patterson died October 17 in Blum, Texas of injuries sustained from a non-battle related incident.




Maj. Tad T. Hervas

Hometown: Coon Rapids, Minnesota

January 16, 1961 - October 6, 2009

Hervas was assigned to the 34th Infantry Division, based in Rosemount, Minnesota.

Hervas died October 6 at Contigency Operating Base Basra, Iraq, of injuries sustained from a non-combat related incident.




Spc. William VanOsdol

Hometown: Pinson, Alabama

June 13, 1986 - August 19, 2009

VanOsdol was assigned to the 172nd Support Battalion, Schweinfurt, Germany.

VanOsdol died August 19 in Ad Diwaniyah, Iraq, of wounds suffered when enemy rocket fire struck his quarters.




Pvt. Keiffer P. Wilhelm

Hometown: Plymouth, Ohio

February 24, 1990 - August 4, 2009

Wilhelm was assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 13th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, Fort Bliss, Texas.

Wilhelm died August 4 in Maysan province, Iraq, of injuries sustained from a non-combat related incident.




Spc. Carlos E. Wilcox

Hometown: Cottage Grove, Minnesota

April 29, 1982 - July 16, 2009

Wilcox was assigned to the 34th Military Police Company, 34th Infantry Division, based in Stillwater, Minnesota.

Wilcox died of wounds suffered when Contingency Operating Base Basra was attacked by indirect fire.

Sgt. Joshua W. Soto

Hometown: Avenal, Texas

December 19, 1983 - June 16, 2009

Soto was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 77th Armor Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, Fort Bliss Texas.

Soto died in Tallil, Iraq of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle.




Pvt. Bradley W. Iorio

Hometown: Galloway, New Jersey

February 4, 1990 - May 29, 2009

Iorio was assigned to the Special Troops Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, Fort Bliss, Texas.

Iorio died May 29 at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Landstuhl, Germany, of injuries suffered from a non-combat related incident May 27 in Tallil, Iraq.
